Paul – cement sounds very permanent! It may be a good solid way of building you bath sides, but what happens when you need to replace the bath? Or get access under the bath for a leaking or blocked up pipe? Most bath surrounds are made with wood – and tiled. This is easier to remove and change. There are lots of guides online and your best idea would be to search Google for “DIY Drop-in tub” or a “DIY walk-in bath” Hope this helps.
